1. When did you officially become a full-time part of the business, and what did that transition look like?

I’ve always been involved in the business in some way, but officially came on board full time in 2019. Joining forces with Rachel gave us the chance to really align on our goals—everything from growing RSC, to acquiring the Queensferry Street store, and diversifying the brand in new and exciting ways.

2. Can you tell us a bit about your background before joining the business full time?

My background is rooted in events, logistics, planning and general management—so I naturally gravitated towards the operational side of the business when I joined full time.

3. Which areas of the business do you personally enjoy the most?

I really enjoy the strategic side—thinking ahead, planning for the future, and making sure we’re building something sustainable and thoughtful.

4. What does a typical day look like for you at Rachel Scott?

No two days are ever quite the same, but my time is usually split across business admin, HR, health and safety, property management, and marketing. Oh—and a fair bit of dog walking too!

5. Events seem to be a big part of what you do—how do they fit into the overall business strategy?

Events are such a key part of how we connect with our clients and showcase what we’re all about. They allow us to create moments of added value and meaning—and that experience is always front of mind for us. We know how important it is, and we’ll continue investing in this side of the business over the coming months and years.

6. What’s it like working so closely with Rachel—both personally and professionally?

It’s a real privilege. We’re very aligned in both our work and life goals, and I genuinely love being on this journey together. We balance each other well and share a lot of the same values, which makes working together feel incredibly natural.

7. You’ve played a big role in designing the stores—can you share more about your creative process?

Being creative really motivates me, and I’ve designed and project managed all of our stores over the years—with Rachel’s expert eye keeping everything on track! Every detail is carefully considered through the lens of the client experience. Like Rachel always says about the pieces we buy: there’s no design without substance. That’s a philosophy we apply to everything we do.

8. What’s your favourite part about going on buying trips with Rachel?

Our buying trips are a real highlight. They’re crucial for future planning and strengthening relationships with our suppliers, but they also give us rare time to step back from the day-to-day and reflect. It’s always inspiring and helps shape the direction we want to take next.

9. We hear Jake the dog is quite the regular at the studio—what’s it like bringing him to work?

Bringing Jake in every day is a joy—he’s very much part of the team and the clients absolutely adore him. He brings a lovely energy to the space.

10. How would you describe the team at Rachel Scott?

We’re incredibly lucky. Every member of the team is a true professional in their own right, and both Rachel and I take a lot of pride in what we’ve built together. It really is a team effort.

11. You’ve recently started growing the occasion and eveningwear side of the business—what’s the vision behind that?

This is the next big challenge for us. It’s a completely new concept, and while we know it will take some time to build momentum, we’re confident in the idea and the business model behind it. It’s an exciting direction to grow into.

12. Looking back over the past 21 years, what’s stayed the same—and what are you most excited about going forward?

We’ve always had the same ambition: to be the best, not the biggest. That’s still what drives us today. Rachel and I are both committed to learning, improving, and pushing the business forward—and we’re really excited about what the future holds.
